Chloe McCoy, MD, PhD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who treats patients of all ages in the emergency department, including pediatric, geriatric, and pregnant patients. She is proficient in the full range of emergency procedures, including laceration repair, fracture and dislocation reduction, foreign body removal, and advanced interventions such as endotracheal intubation, chest tube placement, lumbar puncture, and central venous catheter insertion. She has extensive experience diagnosing and managing acute medical conditions, including stroke, surgical emergencies, respiratory failure, heart attacks, diabetic crises, vascular emergencies, and sepsis. Dr. McCoy has practiced in both community and rural emergency department settings.
Dr. McCoy serves as clinical faculty for the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she teaches emergency medicine residents and medical students. She also supervises physician assistants at her hospital outside of Washington, DC. An accomplished educator, she is known for her ability to explain complex medical concepts in clear, accessible terms to patients, healthcare professionals, community members, and juries. A leader in emergency department quality and safety, Dr. McCoy has served as Chair of the Quality, Risk, and Safety Committee for the ER, collaborating with departmental and hospital leadership to improve patient safety and standards of care. In this role, she led confidential peer review processes evaluating the quality and appropriateness of physicians’ clinical performance. Dr. McCoy is available to review cases involving emergency department care and the management of medical emergencies.
