Katie Trammel, MD

Katie Trammel, MD is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. She has cared for patients of all ages in various emergency room settings: community, academic, level 1 trauma centers as well as free standing and more rural emergency departments. She is skilled at all emergency procedures including: laceration repair, fracture reduction, and complex procedures such as endotracheal intubation, chest tube placement, and obtaining emergency vascular access. Dr. Trammel has been interested and involved with ED patient safety and quality since residency. At that time, she and a co-resident founded the IU Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Committee, which is still active today. She has served on patient care quality committees and been a mentor for several morbidity and mortality presentations. Dr. Trammel has been practicing Emergency Medicine for over 15 years and has been actively involved with the teaching and education of not only Emergency Medicine Residents, but Residents of multiple other specialties as well as medical students. She was awarded multiple clinical teaching awards while practicing. Dr. Trammel still is clinically active but has transitioned to a full-time role with Cigna Health Care reviewing inpatient charts for medical necessity.
